The Board of Education heard its annual Student Achievement and Performance Report for 2016-17, which showed some remarkable test scores and student growth.
Parents, please take the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey by January 30, 2018. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement.
The date for the January Regular Board of Education meeting has changed from 1/8/18 to 1/22/18.
Registration for students entering kindergarten next fall will be held this month on the following dates. Registration for students new to first grade will also be held at the same time. (Current Butler District 53 kindergarteners do not need to register for first grade at this time.)
Butler School District 53 Board of Education Secretary Ahmad Sulaiman served as guest teacher in Brook Forest’s 5th grade classroom on Dec. 19.
Congratulations to Butler District 53’s Science Olympiad teams on their first competition of the season, which was held at the British International School of Chicago on Dec. 9.
Butler School District 53 has extended the timeline for completion of its strategic planning survey to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18.
If you do not want your son or daughter to participate, fill out the form and ask your child to return this sheet to his or her teacher by December 18th.

The Butler Junior High Math Team took home some big hardware and a clean sweep at two recent competitions.

Butler School District 53 will conduct a free developmental screening of children ages 3 to 5 years old. The screening will take place on Thursday, October 12th at the Oak Brook Park District.
Students and staff from Brook Forest and Butler Junior High came together at the Oak Brook Healing Field of Honor on Thursday. They participated in a short ceremony honoring those who lost their lives on Sept. 11.
