Virtual Meetings

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Illinois Governor’s order suspending the provisions of the Illinois Open Meetings Act (OMA), some meetings may be held virtually or rescheduled. Committee meetings on the calendar may also be held virtually or rescheduled. While it is a regular practice to record the monthly Board of Education meetings, until further notice, the District will begin recording all Committee meetings as well.

Virtual Meetings

Virtual Regular Board Meeting Norms:

  • If you are using the link to join the meeting, please sign in to the meeting with your full first and last names
  • Only those that join with the link will be able to view the screen that is being shared during the meeting
  • The host will mute all participants and turn off the participants' camera
  • Participants will be able to listen to all open sessions but will remain muted the entire time
  • The Superintendent and Board Members will leave the open session when it ends and then join back in when it is time for the second open session to begin. Participants can choose to stay on the session or leave after the first open session. Please be aware that each closed session length will be different.
  • Public comments will be read out loud by Board Members. The public can submit comments to be read via the Butler SD 53 Board Meeting - Public Comment Form by clicking the link → https://forms.gle/ig6gHtZCLaQS3NEt6  The form will be closed one hour prior to the start of the meeting. 
  • Thank you for your participation.   

Virtual Committee Meeting Norms:

  • If you are using the link to join the meeting, please sign in to the meeting with your full first and last names
  • Only those that join with the link will be able to view the screen that is being shared during the meeting
  • The host will mute all participants and turn off the participants' camera
  • You will be unmuted by the host only at the start of the meeting for attendance and during the audience comment time
  • You must acknowledge your attendance with an audible response to be permitted to stay for the meeting.  We reserve the right to only allow those participants in the meeting that have identified themselves 
  • You will not be able to unmute yourself
  • You must virtually raise your hand(this option is located at the bottom of the screen) if you would like to make a comment during the allotted time.  Wait for the host to unmute you.
