Healing Field

Students and staff from Brook Forest and Butler Junior High came together at the Oak Brook Healing Field of Honor on Thursday. They participated in a short ceremony honoring those who lost their lives on Sept. 11. The choirs performed and Superintendent Dr. Heidi Wennstrom and Police Chief James Kruger offered comments. Students then participated in a 20-minute Red White and Blue Run on the outskirts of the Healing Field. “Coming together as a district to remember 9-11 and to honor the many people who lost their lives and those who continue to serve and protect our country was amazing,” said Brook Forest Assistant Principal Lisa Owen, who organized the school event. The choirs are set to perform at Oak Brook events this weekend and 1st and 2nd graders will lead the community in the Pledge of Allegiance at ceremonies on Sunday.
