Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,
Congratulations to the newly elected members of the Board of Education who were installed in their positions on Tuesday night at the Board of Education Reorganization meeting. We were thrilled to welcome you in-person and have you accompanied by your families for this momentous occasion. Additionally, the Board of Education elected Dr. Sanjay Rao as President, Mrs. Kavitha Neerukonda as Vice President, and Mr. Craig Donnelly as Secretary. We look forward to a continued collaborative partnership with these elected stewards of our great District 53.
At the aforementioned meeting, the Board of Education discussed the possibility of changing the meeting day for the regularly scheduled monthly meetings. Before making a decision, the Board of Education would like your feedback. Please be on the lookout for an email survey from SurveyMonkey asking for your input on whether meetings should continue to occur on Mondays, change to Thursdays, or if you have no preference. Registration for District 53 Summer School courses opened today! Please register your child(ren) for summer school courses early as seats are limited in these classes. The course catalog and registration link are available through the District website.
Looking ahead, May 3-7 is National Teacher Appreciation Week. I know our parents will join me and our Administrative Team in thanking our district's amazing educators. The national #ThankATeacher campaign is especially pertinent for District 53 as our teachers have been providing in-person and parallel remote learning opportunities for our students since the beginning of the year with dedication and professionalism. We thank all of our teachers for their tireless efforts this school year and look forward to celebrating each of them next week.
