03.26.21 Letter to Families and Staff

Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,

THANK YOU!

I am continually inspired by the commitment and dedication of our teachers and staff; the support and encouragement of our families; the resiliency of our students; and how far we have progressed throughout this school year. As we begin Spring Break, I am proud of the many contributions made by the District 53 community and wish to extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you.

Beyond all limits, you deserve this break and I hope that you will spend time with your family - relaxing, recharging, and preparing to finish the school year strong.

In an effort to keep our school community safe, we encourage you to follow recommendations from DCHD, IDPH, and CDC related to gatherings, travel, and PPE. We understand families will want to travel over the Spring Break ahead.  To reduce the risk of further spread of variant strains in the United States, people who have been vaccinated should still follow CDC’s travel recommendations and requirements before, during, and after travel as well as the recommended stay-at-home (self-quarantine) period after travel.

All International travelers, regardless of vaccination status, should get tested 3–5 days after travel and stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel, even if their test is negative. Travelers who don’t get tested should stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.  Fully vaccinated travelers should also follow all state, territorial, tribal, and local travel recommendations and requirements.

Reminder to parents:  Testing is available in our Health Offices for your convenience and all are welcome. If interested, please visit the District's website, scroll to the bottom of the page to choose a test and submit a consent form.

Additionally, the District will continue to update our COVID-19 Communication page on our website during spring break with applicable notifications and documentation.

Finally, please be on the lookout for further information about our District's Virtual Summer School offerings, course catalog, and teacher videos describing each course in April. Detailed information as well as registration information will be provided in the coming weeks through email, on the District website, and through our social media channels.

We look forward to resuming school on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
