Superintendent's Welcome Back to School Message

Superintendent's Welcome Back to School Message

Dear D53 Families and Staff:

What a terrific morning to welcome back our students, teachers, staff and families to commence the 2024-2025 school year. The weather truly enhanced the morning to allow for outdoor gatherings. I enjoyed seeing the smiling faces for back to school pictures, and the first day moments that make this day each year so special.

Our teachers and staff have spent a considerable amount of time preparing for the new school year, getting their classrooms ready, participating in professional development, and our three institute days to kick off the school year. We have several new teachers joining the District 53 family whom we welcome and are grateful for the dedicated returning teachers who call this district their professional home.

Thank you to our partners at the Oak Brook Police Department for their attendance at both schools this morning; it was a pleasure to have our local law enforcement officers and Bandit assist in welcoming back everyone to the new school year.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the PTO members for hosting coffee and donuts at Brook Forest Elementary. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many parents after dropping their students off.

We look forward to showcasing the new learning spaces and building improvements to our parents at Open House evenings in the coming weeks.

Stay well, be safe, and enjoy the first few days of school!
