D53 Transitions to Remote Learning on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 due to Forecasted Weather Conditions

Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning for DuPage County through 12:00 PM on Tuesday. The region is anticipating dangerously low temperatures and wind chills, especially during anticipated drop-off times. After consultation with area superintendents, First Student and the district's buildings and grounds team, and due to the forecasted frigid temperatures for tomorrow, Brook Forest Elementary and Butler Junior High school buildings will be closed on Tuesday, January 16th to prevent travel to and from school.

All teaching and learning will take place remotely. Start and end times of learning remain the same. This will be a full day of learning. Building principals will send specific information and guidelines for eLearning.

While the buildings will be closed, we will continue to make sure that impactful learning still continues for all of our learners while keeping staff and students safe. This has been and continues to be our priority.

If you have any questions, please contact your building principal.

Stay safe,

Dr. Paul O’Malley
Superintendent of Schools
