Dear D53 Families and Staff:
Thank you to everyone for celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week with us; we have the most talented and committed teachers to celebrate. Special thanks to our parents, students, PTO, and Board of Education for all of the ways you made this week special for our teachers. We are truly grateful.
On Monday evening, Butler School District 53 officially welcomed new Board of Education members - John Baar, Reynick "Rey" Martinez, and Athanasia Skokos. These individuals were elected by the community to serve our school district for the next four years. We look forward to their leadership and volunteerism. Additionally, the Board of Education elected Kavitha Neerukonda as President, Craig Donnelly as Vice President, and Rey Martinez as Secretary.
Furthermore, many thanks to outgoing President Sanjay Rao and Member Keith Carlson for their dedication and commitment to District 53 since 2018. Together, their leadership allowed us to focus on the retention of teachers and administrators, facilitated our disciplined debt service model to commence our Capital Improvement Vision projects, and brought two National Blue Ribbon School Awards to our buildings.
In closing, I look forward to seeing you at the many end of year traditions and celebrations for our students and staff.
