D53 Health Center Update - IDPH Adopts New Quarantine Guidance for Schools

The Centers for Disease Control updated its guidance for PreK-12 schools on January 6.   In alignment with the CDC, the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education and DuPage County Health Department announced that the agencies have adopted CDC guidance for PreK-12 schools that halves the isolation and quarantine period. Congruently, Butler School District 53 has implemented the updated guidance.

Furthermore, the isolation and quarantine period for students and staff members sick with COVID-19 or considered a close contact has been reduced to five days.

Finally, to align with the shortened quarantine and isolation periods, IDPH and ISBE have modified the Test to Stay protocol to require at least two tests within seven days after the close contact notification/Test To Stay enrollment, with the last test occurring 5-7 days after last close contact.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and teachers. It’s been an incredibly challenging year, but we will continue to push forward together with renewed hope and a commitment to COVID-19 safety protocols, guidelines, and testing.
