04.05.21 Letter to Families and Staff

Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,

I hope that you enjoyed your Spring Break and are feeling rested and recharged for the remainder of our school year. We are looking forward to being back in school tomorrow, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 and finishing the year in a safe and successful manner.

As I mentioned in my communication prior to the start of Spring Break, to reduce the risk of further spread of variant strains in the United States, people who have been vaccinated should still follow CDC’s travel recommendations and requirements before, during, and after travel as well as the recommended stay-at-home (self-quarantine) period after travel.

All International travelers, regardless of vaccination status, should get tested 3–5 days after travel and stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel, even if their test is negative. Travelers who don’t get tested should stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

Please communicate with your building principal if your child will have a temporary change to remote learning as a result of a self-quarantine. As a reminder, testing is available in our Health Office at Brook Forest Elementary for your convenience and all are welcome. If interested, please visit the District's website, scroll to the bottom of the page to choose a test and submit a consent form.

Stay well, be safe, and welcome back from Spring Break.

Dr. Paul O’Malley
Superintendent of Schools
