Butler School District 53 Expands COVID-19 Testing to District Community Members

Butler School District 53 announced today that the District is expanding COVID-19 testing opportunities beyond students and staff to include all members of the District 53 community.

Butler School District 53 received CLIA licenses to administer tests on-site. The district administers Rapid Antibody (fingerstick) and Rapid Response Antigen (nasal swab) on-site with dedicated healthcare professionals making appointments and coordinating testing services. Likewise, District 53  offers at-home PCR testing through a third party that is provided by the district. To learn more about the different test options, the District compiled an explanation of each available test.

Prior to arriving for testing, each person must fill out the consent form for each test to be administered. Once the consent form has been submitted, the District nurse professional automatically receives a copy and will be prepared for testing. Consent forms can be found on the District website under COVID-19 Resources.

Testing is available at the Brook Forest Elementary Health Office during school hours of 8:15am-3:00pm. The Health Office is located at 60 Regent Drive, Oak Brook Illinois 60523 and the office's entrance is to the right of the main school door.

"I am proud of our District's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and this step further demonstrates our school district's essential role it plays in keeping our communities safe. Our school nurses have truly gone beyond all limits in responding to this public health crisis and offering COVID-19 testing for our community," said Dr. Paul O'Malley, Superintendent of Schools, Butler School District 53.

Questions on testing can be directed to District Nurse Donna Lichtfuss at DLichtfuss@Butler53.com.
