11.23.2020 Edmonds BOE Letter to Community

November 23, 2020

Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,

On behalf of the entire Board of Education of Butler School District 53, I would like to wish you and your families a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. This holiday provides us with an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the many individuals for which we are grateful. From my perspective, I'd like to share what I'm thankful for this year:

We are truly grateful to our teachers, staff, and administrators for the investment each of you has made into our school district, the commitment to our students, and the prioritization of health and safety for all. Thank you to all of you for all that you do to make our school district one of the most successful in our region.

We are truly grateful for our students who have risen to the challenge of wearing masks and remaining physically distanced in a new learning environment, all while recognizing their fullest potential, engaging in learning, and giving their all each and every day.

We are truly grateful to our parents who have shown their unwavering support for our district, our teachers and staff, and each other in committing to our guidelines, sharing your feedback, and your partnership in learning.

I am truly grateful for my fellow Board of Education members who have gone above and beyond in listening to feedback, attending committee and board meetings, making decisions, and fully committing to the health and safety of our school community.

In closing, I ask each of you to commit to our established guidelines, in accordance with IDPH, CDC, and DCHD, as you make plans and decisions this holiday week. The holiday will not look the same as years past. With your support and cooperation, we will continue to keep our schools healthy and safe.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mr. Christopher Edmonds
President, Board of Education
