Butler School District 53 Forms Pandemic Awareness Committee

Butler School District 53 announced the formation of a Superintendent advisory group named Pandemic Awareness Committee (PAC) in response to Policy 4:180 Pandemic Preparedness; Management; and Recovery

By forming a pandemic planning team consisting of appropriate District personnel and community members, the PAC will be an advisory committee to the District 53 Superintendent. While the PAC has no decision-making function, and their recommendations are not authoritative or binding to the Board of Education, they will identify priorities and oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive pandemic school action plan. Without a doubt the PAC will  offer valuable and in-depth conversation on specific local situations, including identifying emerging local issues.

"We are grateful to our community that responded to our need; we appreciate all those who expressed interest in the work of this committee. We look forward to bringing stakeholders together for this important work," said Dr. Paul O'Malley, Superintendent of Schools.

Members of the committee include representation from the District 53 buildings and grounds department, school nurse professional, Oak Brook Education Association member, mental health expert, public health expert, doctors and medical professionals, and a daycare operator. The diverse insight and knowledge of the PAC members will assist the District in continuing to respond to the current pandemic.

The Pandemic Awareness Committee will host a first meeting during the first week of November.
