10.26.2020 Family Recommitment

October 26, 2020

Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff,

As we look forward to the start of 2nd Quarter at Butler Junior High and 2nd Trimester at Brook Forest Elementary this week, we are reminded of our need to recommit to our priorities that have kept our school community healthy and safe. In partnership with all of our stakeholders, we have made the first portion of the school year a great success.

We recognize there are opportunities to congregate, gather together with family and friends, and the yearning for some return to normalcy, especially with the holidays around the corner and Halloween this weekend. I'm asking for your support and recommitment to the self-certification that our in-person learners, teachers, and staff signed at the beginning of this school year.

A critical element of the self-certification form is the daily symptom screening conducted at home. If you or your child are exhibiting any symptoms related to COVID-19, please immediately inform the school nurse and remain home.

In regards to Halloween this weekend, please familiarize yourself with the recommendations established by the Village of Oak Brook that include trick-or-treating as a family and maintaining a safe distance from other groups when traveling from house to house.

Beyond All Limits - we must recommit to our priorities and practices, observe social distancing, avoid congregating in large group settings, wearing appropriate PPE, and staying home when presenting symptoms of COVID-19.

With your support and cooperation, we will continue to keep our schools healthy and safe.

Stay safe, be well,

Dr. Paul O’Malley
Superintendent of Schools
