Butler School District 53 Teachers to Present Art for Change Workshop at Illinois Art Education Association Conference

Butler School District 53 educators Nina Angelillo and Adam Nicholson will be presenting a brand-new art workshop to the annual Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) Conference on November 7 from 11:15am-12 noon.

"Leveraging the Flip the Classroom (FTC) model program and innovating art education curriculum, we are proud of Adam and Nina for sharing their professional knowledge and expertise with educators from around the state," commented Dr. Paul O'Malley, Superintendent of Schools.

Angelillo and Nicholson developed the workshop last summer, while they taught Art For Change as a summer school course for the district. The course featured lessons dedicated to different types of change, provided guest artist opportunities, and showcased other interactive projects which culminated in a virtual gallery showing. This summer course will now be presented as a fully developed workshop at the IAEA conference.

"Art has the power to incite change," says Nina Angelillo, "our summer course was well received, so we wanted to bring it to a wider audience; and the Illinois Art Education Association was gracious enough to turn our idea to a reality."

You can find further conference information and registration on the organization's website.
