D53 Juneteenth Message

D53 Juneteenth Message

Dear Butler 53 Families and Staff,

As you are traveling through our school community today, you may notice that our flags are flying at half-staff. Per a notification from the State of Illinois, we have lowered flags on our campus in recognition of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a national celebration of freedom and the end of enslavement in the United States in 1865 with origination in Texas. More information about this notice is available online

As a District, our mission statement focuses on an inclusive educational experience and an appreciation for cultural diversity. Our school community is rich in diversity; we recognize and celebrate the unique backgrounds, experiences, and contributions of our students, parents, faculty and staff.

Something to look forward to; next week, we begin our first session of summer school courses. The unique curriculum designed by our teachers for incoming 3rd through 8th graders, will offer an engaging learning opportunity for students and provide extension or enrichment opportunities to all learners. If you have not had the opportunity to register for a course, please do so at your earliest convenience. I have included necessary links for more information and registration details below.

Thank you for continuing to allow us to be a part of your academic journey.

Stay well, be safe-

Dr. Paul O’Malley
