Parent Night on Cyber Security

Parent Night on Cyber Security

All parents of children in the Hinsdale Central feeder schools are invited to hear a TED Talk speaker discuss protecting their children from online predators and bullying and other internet safety issues. The Parent Night is offered by Butler School District 53’s social work and technology department. It will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 16 in Butler Junior High’s Multi-purpose room, 1801 York Rd. Oak Brook. The presentation is offered to parents of all grade levels in the Hinsdale Central feeder school area. The talk will be targeted to parents of junior high age.

Richard Wistocki, a former police detective who now provides training to parents and law enforcement, will offer strategies on how to monitor your child’s devices, empower students not to be victims and protect children’s digital footprint. His presentation will offer practical advice on popular applications such as Snap Chat, House Party, Fortnite, Instagram and what to do when your child is faced with harassment, cyberstalking and false personification on social media.
