The Butler School District 53 Board of Education invites community members to participate in the process to select its next superintendent of schools. Current superintendent Dr. Heidi Wennstrom announced her retirement in September, effective at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

At its October meeting, the Board selected Ray and Associates to facilitate the search process.  Hiring a new superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Education.  As such, they have chosen to invite Butler District 53 parents, community members and staff to participate in the process.  Two times have been designated for parents and community members on Thursday, Nov. 1. The first session will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Brook Forest School Library, 60 Regent Dr. Oak Brook, and the second session will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Butler Junior High Library, 2801 York Rd. Oak Brook.

At the meetings, the search consultant will provide an overview of the search process and will solicit community feedback for consideration in selecting a successful candidate.  Participants will be asked to share relevant information about the community, the school district and characteristics desired in the new superintendent.  No reservations are needed to attend.  Other focus groups for teachers and staff will be held at separate times.  The Board selected Dr. Sally Beatty, Vice President, and Mrs. Laura Bieselin, member, to lead the process.

The Board of Education thanks community members in advance for their participation. “This is an important community-wide process,” said Board President Christopher Edmonds. “While the final decision of hiring a new superintendent rests with the Board, we value the information provided from the community as it will help the Board select a candidate who can lead us into the next chapter of Butler 53’s growth” he said.
