Dear Butler D53 Families and Staff:
It is with much pride and excitement that I announce that Brook Forest Elementary has been named a National Blue Ribbon School 2022 by the United States Department of Education. As Brook Forest celebrated its 50th year of educating children last year, this is such a fitting honor and recognition for our students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Prola and Ms. Owen for their leadership of Brook Forest Elementary, our award winning faculty and staff who go above and beyond to personalize learning for each student in their classroom, our amazing students who are committed to striving to be the best version of themselves each day, and our wonderful parents who continue to provide a positive partnership with us.
In his recognition of National Blue Ribbon Schools, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona stated: "As our country continues to recover from the pandemic, we know that our future will only be as strong as the education we provide to all of our children. Blue Ribbon Schools have gone above and beyond to keep students healthy and safe while meeting their academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. These schools show what is possible to make an enduring, positive difference in students’ lives."
I couldn't agree more with Secretary Cardona's acknowledgment of our district's response to COVID-19, providing quality learning experience for our students, and the impact that we are making in our student's lives. We are incredibly proud of our Brook Forest Dolphins!
Congratulations to all of us on this well-deserved national recognition. We look forward to celebrating with each of you in the very near future.
Stay safe, be well,
Dr. Paul O’Malley
Superintendent of Schools
