Fifty-nine 8th grade students celebrated their years at Brook Forest and Butler Junior High during their May 30 commencement. With family and friends looking on, the graduates received their diplomas with the theme “Our Futures are So Bright, We Have to Wear Shades.” Daniel Petrucelli, Student Government Communications Director, Rhea Kumar, a member of the Student Service Board and AJ Smith, President of the Student Council each recounted the incredible journey they’ve been on at Butler and Brook Forest. Butler Junior High Principal Amy Read said the staff and teachers have watched them stretch, grow and take risks to challenge themselves. “You, the Class of 2018 have the tools to be academically and socially successful during the next four years and beyond. It has been our absolute pleasure to watch you learn and grow during your time here." Families and friends were thanked for their support and parent volunteers were applauded for their involvement.
