District 53 is in the process of transitioning the website during the week of August 18th in alignment with the first week of the new school year. A dedicated communication will be sent to inform the community when the process is complete. Thank you for your patience.
Being a principal isn’t an easy job. In fact, said Superintendent Dr. Heidi Wennstrom, “It is nothing short of a demanding job.” But through it all, the principals and assistant principals at Butler District 53 keep their focus on the students.
The Principals, Amy Read and Kelly Voliva, and Assistant Principals, Lisa Owen and Marybeth Marinier, were honored by the Board of Education and Superintendent at the Board meeting Oct. 19 as part of National Principal’s Month and Principal Appreciation Day on Oct. 23. The occasion honors the work and commitment of school leaders throughout Illinois.
“I have had the good fortune of seeing your work in action,” Wennstrom told the four administrators. “You embrace learning yourselves and have set high goals for yourselves,” she said. “I have seen you get high fives from kids, hugs from kids, yet you push them to higher levels. You also support them and give them dignity and kindness. The focus is always on the children.” The four were given tokens of appreciation from the Board and administration.
