From the Superintedent

I am incredibly excited and grateful to serve as superintendent in Butler District 53. I look forward to working collaboratively with parents, educators and the community to ensure high educational outcomes for all students and at the same time create value for the greater Oak Brook community.

In this way, together, we can continue to move this highly acclaimed District from exemplary to epic.

I decided to become an educator because I knew the significant impact that educators can have on young people. I knew that I wanted to commit my life to trying to give students the very best educational experiences and future possible. Every day the future sits in our classrooms, and as educators, it is our job to help students flourish and reach unlimited potential. Our work is about inspiring and equipping tomorrow’s scientists, leaders, inventors and entrepreneurs.

I get excited each day about the future of Butler District 53 and will work hard to continue to lay the groundwork to build upon the district’s tradition of excellence. This year there are some changes already in the works. We’ve launched a new schedule at the junior high so that students have a richer, deeper learning experience in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math). We will continue to enhance social emotional learning for students and look at ways students can give back to the greater community. We’ve appointed new leadership at the junior high who embody our mission and vision.

Throughout our work, we will still maintain the great Butler mission:

"To provide the best educational opportunities for each student to achieve academic excellence, to develop the curiosity for life-long learning, and to demonstrate personal and social integrity." Working together, we will inspire success and a lifetime of learning.

With Butler pride,

Dr. Paul O’Malley Superintendent
