Dear Parents and Students:

We are excited to begin a new chapter in Butler Junior High history by offering each student an opportunity to select up to four different Exploratory Elective courses, two each semester for the 2012-13 school year.  Attached you will find the presentation from the parent and student meeting that was held March 21 which provides the rationalization and specifics of our new program  You will also find our course descriptions and our preference sheet.  The students will hear about their options today in meetings to be held both at Brook Forest for 5^th graders and at Butler Junior High for 6^th and 7^th graders.  All preference sheets will be due to study hall or 5^th grade home room teachers by April 5^th. 

Students who are interested in band will find additional information on the preference sheet.  Here, parents and students will rank order three options for when ensemble band will be taught: before school, during electives, or during study hall and after school.  We will be compiling these preferences and will make a decision when to schedule band based upon the input received. 

Please read our course offerings carefully, fill out the preference sheet including the comments section, and return the preference sheet by April 5^th.  If you have any questions, please contact me at any time.
