Mr. Richard Sobak

Bio:


Mr. Richard Sobak teaches Choral Music (choir), General Music, and directs the music for the spring musical at Butler Jr. High.  He has taught at the elementary, high school, and college levels in the Chicago area. Prior to joining the Butler faculty, he served as choral music director at Madonna High School, Chicago, and as Associate Conductor with the Oak Park-River Forest Children’s Choir.

In his spare time, Mr Sobak does guest conducting and performs organ recitals in Chicagoland churches. For hobbies, he enjoys weight training and seeking out new restaurants

 

Education:

Mr. Sobak holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ and Music Education from the Oberlin College Conservatory,  a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Kent State University, the Choir Training Certificate from the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon England, and the Artist-Teacher Diploma from the Choral Music Education Institute.

 

Why I Became A Teacher:

Mr . Sobak was inspired to be a teacher from the example of great teachers he had experienced in parochial elementary school and public high school in Northwest Indiana.
