Mr. Peter Sompolski

Bio:

I have had the pleasure of teaching in District #53 since 1989, when I was hired as a 5th-grade teacher. Prior to my Brook Forest position, I taught fifth grade in River Grove for two years. I was born and raised in Niles. Illinois and am the sixth of seven children in my family. Currently, I reside in Naperville where I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and two amazing daughters. Soccer games, bike rides, and traveling are just a few ways we spend enjoying our time together.

Education:

I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University. My Master’s Degree is in mathematics instruction, also from Northeastern Illinois University. Beyond my Master’s, I have 60+ graduate in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and computer education.

Goal:

My goal is aligned with the philosophy of our past Superintendent, Dr. Marguerite Bloch. She always began each school year by saying, “Teach the children and treat them well.” I believe that children need to feel free to take educational risks in my classroom and need to be comfortable in their learning environment.

Why I Became A Teacher:

I have always enjoyed working with children, especially fifth graders. Children at the elementary level are so inquisitive and open to new ideas. Teaching is a profession that allows each day to be new and exciting.
