Mrs. Connie Craig

Bio:

After ten years as a speech pathologist in the Chicago Public Schools, I took a similar position in the River Forest Public Schools where I remained for 23 years. Having a daughter at Butler Junior High, I took an early retirement from River Forest and became involved in the Butler PTA and also served on the Butler District 53 School Board. I returned part time to the River Forest Schools for one year and then accepted the part-time position of speech/language pathologist at Butler in September of 2002. It has been delightful to work with the wonderful students and fine staff in District 53, many
of whom I came to know as both a parent and a board member.

Outside of Butler I enjoy working part time at the Oak
Brook Bath and Tennis Club as a catering consultant and
also volunteering with the Oak Brook Infant Welfare
organization. Traveling, reading and trying to spend time
with two out-of-town young grandchildren are other
favorite activities.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology
Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities
Advanced Studies in Speech/Language Pathology

Why I Became A Teacher:

Having participated in drama and theatre since age 7, my college major started as Speech and Drama. I soon realized this was not what I wanted to do with my life and I found Speech Therapy to be a wonderful way to still use some of my theatre training to work with young people and
to make a difference in their ability to communicate. I
love what I do!
