About Butler Junior High Butler Junior High School is one of two public schools in Butler District 53 serving the community of Oak Brook, Illinois. Butler School District 53 is a public educational institution serving approximately 500 students in grades K-8. The district is composed of Brook Forest Elementary School and Butler Junior High School, and both schools are fully dedicated to “putting children first” in all aspects of our educational program. Built in 1963, Butler Junior High School has been a central feature of the community of Oak Brook for over 40 years. Currently, the school serves approximately 180 students in grades 6,7, and 8. The average class size at Butler Junior High is just over 15 students, affording our talented staff the opportunity to work very closely with all of our students. We are proud of the fact that the teachers in our school district average almost 17 years of teaching experience, and that 62% of our teachers hold at least a Master’s Degree. All of these advantages, combined with a very supportive base of parents and community leaders, allow for our faculty and staff to routinely provide a challenging academic program, delivered in a child-centered and nurturing environment. We believe that our success in this regard is grounded firmly in our educational mission and philosophy. The underlying mission of Butler Junior High and Butler District 53 is to help each student grow and learn by developing individual basic skills. Core academic disciplines are stressed, tempered with a strong desire to provide each student with a diverse and rich instructional experience. Special emphasis is placed on serving the distinct needs of all students through quality instruction, a nurturing environment, and a rigorous and viable curriculum that is reviewed and revised on a regular basis. Butler Junior High School believes in the importance of a well-rounded education; as such, a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, activities, and events are available for student involvement. At Butler Junior High, it is a universally accepted fact that the greatest personal growth, development and achievement for every student are the primary objectives.
