Brook Forest WordMaster Contest

The WordMaster Contest is a national contest given to all Brook Forest children in grades 3-5. This test of verbal expertise challenges the children to learn and use quality vocabulary. This contest is held three times per year and begins with students receiving twenty-five new vocabulary words.

For four weeks, the children concentrate on each word, its definitions, pronunciation, and parts of speech. On contest day, students are further challenged in their higher level thinking abilities as the examination is in the form of an analogy! In addition, students must maintain their learning as each new contest uses words from the previous lists! An added benefit of this contest is that all the words utilized are taken from the list of recommended vocabulary for both the SAT and ACT Tests!
