Meet the Principal - Mrs. Nina McCabe

Message from the Principal

The Brook Forest faculty and staff eagerly accepts the challenge and responsibility of guiding our students through particularly important, formative years in school. Our unwavering belief is that all children can and will learn at high levels.

As a school staff, we realize the critical role parents play in our children's development and are especially appreciative of the many talented, caring individuals who volunteer on a regular basis in order to enrich our children's lives here at school. The county and statewide reputation Brook Forest School has for educational excellence is due, in large part, to the collectively high expectations parents and teachers have for our students. Together, we face no greater challenge than to provide the best education possible for our young children, so they may realize their greatest potential as lifelong learners. The faculty and staff at Brook Forest is committed to working together to make school the most positive and successful experience for each of our children. Our faculty welcomes parent input and encourages close communication between home and school.

At Brook Forest School, we are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of all our students. From children with special needs to those who are gifted and talented, we are consistently seeking ways to improve instruction that will result in increased student learning. The staff is a highly qualified group of educators that commits many hours of work beyond the regular school day for the benefit of our students. Their dedication is demonstrated continuously as they provide before and after school programs in order to enrich and enhance learning for all children. Because many of the staff members have been together for many years, the school culture is immersed in traditions and routines specific to our school. The school staff is intrinsically motivated to continue these wonderful customs, in addition to welcoming exciting new programs, which makes the collegiality here second to none.

In partnership with the District 53 Mission Statement, Brook Forest Elementary School is guided by the following beliefs

-We believe a successful school depends on the cooperation and shared responsibility of all
participants including students, staff, parents, and community members.

-We believe all individuals deserve to learn in an atmosphere based on mutual respect, responsibility, and readiness.

-We believe all students have a right to a healthy and safe learning environment.

-We believe all students must aquire the skills to function in a global society. This is accomplished through providing a firm grounding in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and technology.

Our vision is centered around the belief that each and every child be viewed as a vital resource whose education is an indispensable investment for the future of us all. I wish we could bring you to Brook Forest so you could experience the climate of collaboration that exists among the parents, staff and children at our school. In lieu of a personal visit, we will try, through this website and its links, to demonstrate our progress in developing a community of lifelong learners.

Throughout my time here in Butler School District 53, I have had the privilege of working with an outstanding faculty and staff, as well as a warm and supportive community. I am honored and thankful to be part of a school system so steeped in excellence.

Very sincerely,

Nina McCabe
