Bio:

As I was teaching a music class last year, a 2nd grader asked me, "Why are you so happy?" I answered, "Because I have the best job in the world." I truly believe that, and there is nothing I would rather do than teach elementary music!

Music has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. Piano practices, flute lessons, and singing in choirs filled my childhood. I had my own influential music teachers, who inspired, motivated, and challenged me to strive for excellence, not only in my music, but in every aspect of my life.

I want to influence my students' lives by teaching them to fall in love with music, just as I did at their age. In my classroom, I use music to teach life skills, such as discipline, teamwork, and the joy of personal accomplishment.

From 2003-2005, I taught in Des Plaines, District 62, teaching elementary music and drama. I am excited to be starting my first year here at Brook Forest. I look forward to the wonderful opportunity of working with both the students and the staff in days to come.

Education:

Bachelor of Music Education from Valparaiso University

Goal

My goal as a music educator is to instill in students a lifetime love of music.
