Mrs. Laura Jevitz

Bio:
All About me: May I introduce myself, I’m Laura Jevitz and this is my sixteenth year of teaching. It is my ninth year of teaching second grade at Brook Forest School. Previously, I taught first grade at Davis Elementary School in St. Charles. I reside in Elmhurst with my husband, John, and my two sons. My sons, John and Jake, keep me super busy. John is a fourth grader and Jake is in third grade at Lincoln School in Elmhurst.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My new favorite activity is tennis! My husband is a part-time tennis pro so I am able to take advantage of weekend tennis lessons! I have also recently taken up running so that I can keep up with my boys during 5 K races. My family also makes an awesome foursome in golf! We especially love to golf together when on vacation in a warm, sunny spot!

Education:
Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University
Masters Degree from St. Xavier University

Goal:
My goal is to help every child reach his/her highest potential. I also hope to instill in children a love of learning and a desire to search for knowledge.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
Why did you become a teacher? Since the first day of first grade, I’ve always wanted to be a teacher! I adore being with children and watching them grow and mature! It is so rewarding to see my students learn, apply knowledge, and make connections. It is a dream come true to work with such wonderful children!
