Mrs. Carolyn Heiney

Bio:

While working on my master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh,
I began my career in education teaching first grade. After moving to the Midwest, I taught kindergarten in Glencoe, IL for eight years. It has been a delight to teach the past eighteen years in Oak Brook as both a kindergarten and fourth grade teacher. In addition to teaching, I enjoy family activities and participating in my community. I've enjoyed leadership roles in educational organizations such as AAUW and the Oak Brook Education Association, as well as, in my church.

Education:

Bachelor of Science - Shippensburg University
Masters of Arts - University of Pittsburgh

Goal:

Whether I'm teaching in my classroom or working in the community, I always strive to be a life long learner. Most importantly, I seek to use what I've learned to make a difference in the lives of others.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

From my kindergarten days when I played school with my dolls and any neighborhood friend who would volunteer to be a pupil, I knew I wanted to teach. It was my first and favorite dream.
