Mr. Mike Divelbiss

Bio:

My two greatest passions in life are creating art and working with children, so I never had a problem answering the question, "What do you want to do when you grow up?"

I grew up in Warrenville, IL and decided to devout my life to art while attending Wheaton Warrenville South High School. I had an incredible art teacher, Mr. B., who encouraged me to go on to college and study art. It was this personal impact and motivation that inspired me to become an art teacher.

I attended the School of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. I completed my student teaching in New Zealand to satisfy my third greatest passion of seeing the world and learning about other cultures and their art. This is my second year at Brook Forest School, and I am amazed everyday by the talent, creativity, and character of both the students and staff.

Education:

Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Iowa

Goal:

To inspire, encourage, and educate as many young minds as possible- not just how to be a great artist, but how to be a great individual. And above all else, I want to leave a lasting impression on every student that leaves my art room.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

To make a difference and change lives.
