Technology Committee

Purpose of the Committee: The purpose of the technology committee is to monitor and encourage the use of modern tools in the district. This includes tools the instructional staff use in their teaching, tools the students use in their learning, and tools the administration use. While computers are the most obvious and largest piece of the technology area, it also includes software, audio visual equipment and the network that connects all these things to each other and the rest of the world. Long range plans of the committee include enabling students to access their school work files from home and email assignments directly to their teachers without having to print them.

Committee Structure: The committee relies heavily on the advice of the technology specialist, Barbara Rebecca. The superintendent acts as the secretary for the committee and advises on priorities and resources. Occasionally teachers will come to provide feedback on how valuable the tools provided have been to them. Historically, this committee has enjoyed active participation from parents and community stakeholders.

Committee Membership: The present chair is Stanley Pruss. Patte Knuth is the other official member. The present chair benefits greatly from the advice and console of the previous chair, Tom Mazukelli, and parent Dan Mackey.

Specific facts, figures, and history: The technology committee was created about a decade ago and has monitored the expenditure of over three million dollars since its creation. A few of those early computers are still taking up desk space and need upgrading.
